Yeah, the MX-3 had the smallest production V6. I still don't know what they were thinking with that.

so they could brag it had a v6 and was thus better than 4 cylinders

that is a pretty damn nicely done artist rendering... it really looks like its a photo of an actual car, or model. it aldo looks more like a miata replacement than a new RX7

That picture is hideous. The RX-7 will look nothing like that hopefully. And you're right, its more Miata than RX.

There's a rumor that the Miata and RX-7 will be soft- and hardtop versions of the same platform, with the Miata getting some kind of inline-four and the RX-7 getting the Renesis.

I don't think the RX-7 is going to be an "all-out performance car," but rather a lighter-weight alternative to the 350Z and new Supra (if it comes out).

well, there have been convertible RX-7s in the past... so its not out of the realm of possiblity. i hope, however, that they make the RX-7 and the miata dramatically different in design...
