The G35C does not represent a sports car to me at all. The RX-8 does, despite the seating and door configuration.

It's not a sports car, but it is much more appealing IMO. Unless you're going to be autocrossing weekly.

A 2-door/2-seater would probably be called the RX-7.
Nope. Mazda said they'd introduce a 2-door version of the RX-8 to supplement it's sales. The RX-7 will be an entirely different beast.

From what I understand, if RX-8 does well, the 2-door RX-7 will follow.

I meant on paper specs. I think G35C looks millions times better.

I believe they said they were looking to make a 2-seater based on the RX-8 platform, not that the ensuing product would be badged an RX-8. Meh, it's semantics.

As for the G35C looking better on paper, I see this:

G35 Coupe 6 spd - 3,435 lbs
RX-8 6 spd - 3000-3050 lbs (estimated)

nuff sed.

Lets see what I said..

"On paper, I like the G35C more. The only thing I like about the RX-8 is its lower weight."

Hmm mike, wtf does that sound like to you. sounds to me that i really liked the RX-8's lower weight, but otherwise I liked the G35 Coupe's specs. I dont mind the 30hp and like 100 extra lbs/ft of torque. Or the Infiniti name/serivice. Or a few other things. Mainly I think the RX-8 is ugly and the G35 Coupe is anything but.

Numbers are from Car & Driver because Mazda's site didn't have anything.
