255hp+, duh. They wont give it less hp...... come on now......

Still, 6 speed and AWD should be pretty nice.

Let's see what the price will be. Cuz with the G35 out there, a Maxima doesnt seem as attractive.
I never like the Altima's rear either. This "Maxima" has a very similar ugly rear. Hope the front of this is not bubbly like the Altima.

Lets just hope they can get about 270ish? that'l be good. Make it completely loaded for under $30k and I think it'll carve itself a nich and won't eat into the G35 since it's either FWD or AWD.

I don't know about suspensions and brakes but I'm pretty sure they'll use their famous VQ35DE. They don't have any other options for V6.

Obviously it'll use the VQ35. No Joel, I doubt it will use any of that. The engine will probably be 260-270HP. However, it will have a rear independent suspension, like the Altima. It won't be tuned the same way though. Since it's supposed to be such a bigger car, it'll probably be very different.

It wont have AWD.

I like the Altima better, here are some of its features:

Horsepower: 255+ (TBA)
3 transmissions available: 5sp Auto w/manual shift mode, 4sp Auto, 6sp Manual
Vehicle Dynamic Control available on both auto transmissions
Dual exhaust with 4 chrome tips
Power folding mirrors standard on SE (available on SL)
Skyview Roof standard on all models. Sunroof is an option. This skyview roof is narrower than a typical sunroof, but runs the length of the car. From the exterior it will appear as one solid piece of tinted glass, but from the interior it will be split into front and rear by a narrow beam that
will be covered by headliner material. There will also be sunshades to pull shut to completely block off light if desired.
Bose will be the premium sound system, not Rockford.
A rear center console will be available on both trim levels (reduces seating to 4)
Dual Zone Climate Control with rear AC vents.
Center display integrates displays of HVAC, radio, and trip computer (similar to Murano).
Optional DVD Nav system.
It will be revealed at Jan 5 Detroit Auto Show
It will be available as soon as March 5, 2003.
20 gal fuel tank
18' wheels on SE model
Cornering lights
speed sensitive wipers
tilt/telescopic steering wheel
6 colors: winter frost, liquid silver, spirited bronze, champagne mist, red opulence, radiant ember

Full size spare comes with VDC option
Helical limited slip diff on manual SE model.
Elite package includes rear center console, rear sunshade (power), and rear heated seats.
Rear door courtesy lights. Rear reading lights.
Sirius or XM radio available on both models.
Interior colors: cafe latte, black, frost, and burnt orange/black.
Two exterior colors from 2003 are still available: onyx and majestic blue.
18" chrome wheel option.
The "traditional" sunroof is an option on all models.
Multi-link independent rear suspension.
Auto tint rear view mirror with compass & home link.

With over 255HP, I'd hope for AWD. The rear overhang is proposterously huge....there's no need for that. In general, very ugly.

Good job, Nissan!

I'm just wondering where this car will fit in the overall Nissan/Infiniti pricing scheme. With the Altima topping out at around 26, and the G35 starting at 28k there's not a lot of room for the Maxima. Its most likely going to take sales away from both.

My guess is it'll start at around the same price as the G35 and will be a FWD alternative. I'm guessing 260HP, the same as the G35 as well. It's the only thing that would make sense to me.

With that said, it would mean the 2004 Maxima is a lot less "sporting."

So It'll compete with the Avalon, Town Car, and Crown Vic then? :eh: Yes, I'm leaving :fawk:
