The nature of Honda's supposed sport compact flagship has nothing to do with the new Nissan Sentra.

Stay on topic please.

I had a chance to read up more on the 2007 Sentra and I think Honda might want to keep an eye out on this car.

The car is pretty well-equipped for its price and offers a number of features that the Civic lacks, notably that adjustable center cupholder, driver's side storage compartment, a huge glove compartment with optional beverage cooler, and your choice of six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions. Also, I can see Nissan getting the 2.0-liter I-4 engine to 140 bhp (SAE 08/04 net), matching the output of the R18 engine on the Civic. I can see Nissan having a price advantage of US$1,000 or more when comparably equipped to a Civic LX/EX sedan.

By the way, given the 2007 Sentra's design, the Nissan Azeal concept car might be a preview of the Sentra SE-R sports coupé, probably powered by the Nissan Altima's 2.5-liter I-4 engine but with the variable-timing valvetrain used on the new Sentra; the engine could be rated as high as 200 bhp (SAE 08/04 net). Interestingly enough, besides the obligatory six-speed manual the SE-R could still offer a CVT automatic, probably the same Xtronic unit used on the Murano crossover SUV.

Can't judge a car on paper MtViewGuy. That's what Ochdx does.

If that were true, the NSX would be a terrible sportscar.

I can understand your sentiments, but we can both agree the new Sentra is going to be a far better car than the current model.

Why would the NSX be terrible sportcar? Its spec is very good for a car designed 15 years ago. Relatively light weight, high revving V6, mid-engine, RWD, good weight distribution, low center of gravity. I can go on, but I think the spec sheet does tell you a good deal about a car. As for the new Sentra, it will definitely be much more competitive with the Civic and Corolla, unlike the current Sentra.

i think what he means is that a c4 / c5 vette looks better on paper - similar weight a lot more power and gobs more torque and cheaper to boot

until you drive one and realize the nsx is a gem

While I would much rather drive NSX over a corvette, the Z06 will easily rape the NSX in every possible way.

prove it!...if you are talking raw performance then i'd agree to a point but the nsx has a lower polar moment of inertia as it's an all aluminum mid engine rwd car with 50/50 weight distribution meaning it can do many handling tests better than the bigger tired and much bigger engined z06

then you can get down to reliability and other tests of road cars such as interior quality...did you know the NSX was ranked #1 in quality for 2-3 years in a row a distinction that no other super car has ever been given

On specific handling test, the NSX might get better number, but I'm pretty sure on a race track, the Z06 with big power advantage will win. You can't really compare the interior quality of a car that's 2x the cost of another. It's like comparing an Accord V6 to a LS430. Back to the Sentra, the spec does tell alot about the car in this class. It might not tell you how the car handle, but it does tell you how well equipped it is.
