AM Reception- no go

AM Reception- no go
Greetings everyone!
I've got a problem with the radio in my '90 Integra (automatic motorized antenna died a few years ago, was replaced with permanent fixed-type), which delivers excellent reception on FM, but almost none at all when using AM. I've done a little research already, and can't seem to turn up a solution, so I thought I would see if anyone here had ever run into a similar problem. If something was wrong with the antenna lead coming out of the stereo, why would I still get perfect FM? Is there a separate AM antenna somewhere in the car?
Thanks so much for reading my post. Any advice you had would be appreciated.

No...the stock antenna is AM and FM....did the antenna u purchased have both AM and FM reception? How tall is it? AM antennas have to go up pretty hight to get goo reception.
Solution: Get XM or Sirius satellite radio
I can give you all the info u need on that...i sell it at work

Thanks for responding! Yeah, the antenna, which is the standard (?) length of about 30 inches, and originally got both FM and AM fine. Then, through the years, the AM reception began to flicker a bit, seemed to respond to jarring motions of the car (diagnosis: short?), and now is virtually nonexistent. I am interested in satellite, eventually, so tell me more about it.
