Default Integra vs. a Civic (auto cross type racing)

As some of you know i plan on mainly auto crossing my future car. Between a civic and an integra which would have the best handling. Lets say a stock GSR vs. a stock Si or something. Which car has the most tenability between the two?

Driving ability is going to play a much MUCH bigger role than the difference between those two cars.

You can't say one is going to be better than the other. A bad driver can make the best car suck, and a good driver can make the worst car shine. At the last autocross event I attended, a stock 2nd gen Eclipse RS on race tires got in the top 1/3 course time, out of about 55 cars total. He was faster than an S2000 by about 3-4 seconds. He was faster than my car by over 5 seconds. He was also faster than BOTH of the modified WRX's out there. It's all about the skill.

i don't know if that is what the guy wanted. in my opinion the gs-r is better, i like the engine i feel that it is one of the best engines that honda has made. and you will be able to get a gs-r for less money because they have been around for so long.

While I agree that the Civic engines don't even compare to the B18C engines, it's not that big of a deal when autocrossing. I never got past 2nd gear the last time I raced, and we all know that 3rd gear is where a GS-R or Type R really shines. It's all about skill and weight and suspension, etc. I didn't really make a choice in the above post, but I would have to say probably a 4th gen Civic hatch or CRX with good tires would be good candidates. If we're talking stock suspension and engines, the 4th gen Civic is much lighter than Integras, both have mostly the same suspension, etc., so the Civic or CRX will be easier to toss around the corners than an Integra would.

But having said all that, if you are talking about keeping the car stock and have the money, I say go for a Type R. It's got both the engine AND the suspension setup that makes for a great track car. :bigok:

I agree completely with PatrickGSR. CRX tend to do quite well in autocross.

I can't agree. The B18C1 is an awsome engine, lots of performance out of a small 4cyl, but honda has made better engines.

The TypeR engine, the NSX engine, the S2000 engine..

Did you mean Civic HATCHBACK? If so then I would recommend an older generation civic hatch or a crx if you can get one as your auto-x vehicle of choice (EG6 comes to mind). They're lightweight and relatively cheap. There's always room to swap in a more potent B16A or B18C if power is what you need. Plenty of amateur racing organizations/leagues are littered with civic hatches, and for good reason too.
