You'll see on the bseries.net's tranny specs that the .848 5th gear is listed under 'S80 Helical LSD'. The USDM transmissions you listed have the .787 5th gear.

The USDM ITR gearing is off the CTR and 96-97 JDM GSR, if anyone is curious. We didn't actually get our own gear set.

Ok I see where you are getting at, the tranny code is what you are talking about, ok, that is how it was listed from where I pulled it from. On the second link if you look at it, that is what my program looks like, that is why there are more tranny codes cause those trannies were offered in JDM land with different gear ratios.

Right, I just saw USDM tranny above that and assumed.

Anyway, did you understand what I meant about higher numbers being shorter gears? It is a little backwards.

Yep, I understand it, but ultimately the 4.785 FD of the JDM type R will make the 4th and 5th gears shorter than that of the US type R tranny. I have a friend with a JDM Type R tranny and we tested it out with another friends US type R tranny and the gear ratios of the JDM are a bit shorter in 4th and 5th than that of the US version(RPM and Speed wise--Also they both had the same size tire/rims on their cars)

They are shorter, but if you put a JDM R final drive in an otherwise stock USDM R transmission, you'd get some really fricken short gears.

Yep, I have seen people do that, me personally I would yank the LS 5th gear and slap that onto a US type R tranny so that I don't have that high ass RPMs when criusing on the hwy(I have an LS trannyon my GSR right now and went to AUsting this weekend from Dallas) I got roughly 370 miles to my full tank of gas averaging a speed of 68mph. I didn't have to fill my tank until I got back to Dallas(south dallas*went to pick up a new stereo from a friend and just turned and came back)

I want a b17 tranny with LSD and the 4.785 final. :yumyum: Would have fun holding it down during 1st, but that baby would come out of the hole like a rocket.

Yeah my next tranny will either be a us or JDM type R and then I am yanking the 5th out of the LS I have now and stuffing it in there. 1/4 racing you don't need 5th gear hehehehehe
