RESULTS:install icebox on stock GSR= wow
Just installed the icebox on a bone stock 2000 gsr. I never would have believed that 170 dollars and 1 hour of labor could feel so good. This is the best thing i have ever done to a motor other than installing a cam or just rebuilding the damn thing!
the sound is perfect for anyone who likes the sleeper idea....but it still howls at Full Throttle! Thanks to everyone on the MULTIPLE threads who helped me out....i think i will recap the basics here so they are in one place.
Step#1 BUY Icebox ~170
Step#2 Ignore what comptech says:
you DONT have to buy the comptech shortram for the icebox to work.
you DONT have to buy a comptech filter for the icebox to work, stock fits fine.
Step#3 Dont order from www.imotorgear.com they dont keep a good inventory and delayed shipment like 5 times.
Step #4 Install it, you dont have to take bumper off, dont have to take tire off, just unbolt everything from under the hood and under the car and the resonator will fall out( i did have to jack the car up like 3 inches to get it out from under the car though
)
VIOLA! you have just gave you car some juice!

then what's the point? stock filters are restrictive. you should really get the comptech one, or you could have saved yourself $170 by just removing the resonator.

You already spent the money on the intake, treat yourself to a new filter...........

might as well just remove the reasonator and use a K&N drop in filter, same results.

i would love to have a better filter, but i dont have one right now and 60-70 dollars is a lot for minimal gains.
dont get me wrong, i will get one when my finances look better

the k& n one is just as expensive isn't it? Might as well buy the one designed to work with the intake. Comptech says the ice box will work with the stock intake and you don't need the short ram. I didn't even take the bumper off and everything worked fine.

According to comptech its gives more mid range power. The aem v2 will probably give more top end. But hte v2 is pretty expensive then jsut the ice box without the short ram. Mostly i think it just comes down to prefrence.
