Default Newbie, questions about models and prices, please help!

Hey all, I've been reading your forums for a while, and finally decided to ask a serious question. (posted a few times about a 'Lude already).

Anyway, I'm having some difficulty finding a run-down on the different models, but it's looking like RS->LS->GS-R? (a kind nudge towards an FAQ would be great) I'm hoping to get a 3rd gen, I think, around 95...would it be reasonable to be looking for an LS or GS-R for about $6K? There's a 95 GS-R listed on AutoTrader "near" me, for $6300, but with 168,000 miles...is that excessive to go buy the car and expect it to last for a few years?

Lastly, what typical things should look for when:

1.) Looking for damage, typical problems.
2.) Confirming model?

Thanks all, I apologize in advance, as I'm sure you see similar questions a lot, but for some reason, I had difficult finding the threads.

i cant help you with the prices, but i can tell you some ways to tell diffrent models apart. first thing is the valve cover, the GSR's will have DOHC VTEC written on it and the LS and RS wont. the ls and rs will both have a brake light built into the rear window and the gsr wont. the gsr's tach goes up to 8k and the ls and rs dont. 94-95 gsr's also came with silver 5 thick spoke rims. only other thing i can think of is that gsr's never came with auto tranny's and ls and rs came in both auto and manual. goodluck

to add onto what 98tegsr said, GSR's will have a DOHC VTEC badge underneath the right taillight.

1 Year ago I paid $6600 for a '94 LS with 89k. A GSR usually commands about $1000 more than a similarly equipped LS. So if you wait and look, you could probably find a decent '94 to '95 GSR for around $7000, or a little more.
And If you didn't know, the LS has 140hp, while the GSR has 170. If you can find a good deal on a GSR, it's worth the premium. There are no performance differences between an RS and an LS, the LS just has some added features like power locks/mirrors.
Also, the timing belt on an Integra needs to be changed every 75k-90k miles. If it hasn't been changed recently, it'll run you around $400 to fix, so keep that in mind. That seems to be the only part on an Integra that regularly goes bad. If you have any other specific questions, ask away!

Thanks all, much appreciated...hopefully I'll get my facts straight and can start looking seriously soon. Can you suggest some other forums where there might be integras posted for sale? They don't seem too common on the car forums I'm visiting now.

I've seen a few "special editions" online, and I was wondering what the difference was in that model?

Special Editions is basically a GSR without the engine. It has the leather, wheels (different than gsr), and what not but has the rs/ls/gs engine.
