they should still work, but sometimes the result can be positive, sometimes it can be negative. Sometimes audiophiles wire them opposite on purpose, aka "out of phase". This can have a distinct sound stage effect as well as in warmth and tone of the lower frequencies.
For you Eddie, switch the back speakers one side at a time, and see if u can hear the difference.
