I drove a '99 2-door Integra GS-R today. Wow. Very nice. I love Honda gear boxes. VTEC is pretty fun when you drop it into 3rd on the highway. I like how it only drops to 5800RPMS when you upshift.

Question though, I saw a 4-door Integra on the way home. Are the 4-doors a notchback? And the 2-doors a hatchback? Or are both hatchbacks? Are there ANY other differences besides the trunk/hatch and one having 2 extra doors? VTEC was available in the 4 door models, correct? Any dimension/weight differences? Shoot me any information you have on the difference between the coupe and sedan.

i believe the 4 door gsr's are not a hatch.....

they are trunks i believe... id get a 2 door, but if u like carting 4 people around all the time, get a 4 door

yep all 4 dr tegs have trunks.

 

2 dr's are hatches, 4drs are trunks. Only about 20% of Integras are 4-drs, and only another 20-25% of those are GSR's (w/ Vtec), so 4dr GSR's are really hard to find.

They share most dimensions, though I think overall the 4-dr is like 4 inches longer, and has significantly more rear seat room as a result. The 4dr weighs about a hundred lbs. more than the hatch. Almost all aftermarket parts are interchangeable between the 2- and 4-drs.

 

Thanks for the info. One of the reasons I like the sedan version is not only the room, but I'm assuming the car would be very quiet considering it doesn't have hatch rattle like the coupes.

 

It's still pretty loud. It might be a little quieter, and have a couple fewer rattles. But most noise that makes it into the cabin, in both the 2- or 4-door, is engine and road noise. I haven't noticed any difference in noise levels between my 4-door and my buddy's 2-door.

 

Okay. Any difference insurance with a sedan vs. the coupe?

 

From what i've researched, yes theres a difference. For some reason, a "sedan" has less cost when compared to a "coupe". Integras are classified as sports (coupe) or (sedan). GSR's and Type R's get higher rates as well.

 

what if i had an LS but did a complete Type R engine swap..

 

Well, if you didn't tell your insurance co. about it, your rates wouldn't change. But then your engine wouldn't be covered in the event of an accident.
