Newby ADVICE
hey yeall, im the new kid. i copped me a 97 GSR and i got a couple of questions. i've only had it for 2 months and i barely started hooking it up with some parts. right now its got a 98-01 front bumper and rear bumper conversion. and, thats a bout it. haha.i just recently changed my system. got some pioneer premier 6 1/2's all around w/ a Gothic Series Power Acoustik amp and a MTX 10" thunder sub. i didnt really mean to change the system, just that i wasnt all satisfied with the factory speakers. ok, enough info on my car, now i got some questions.
i want to LOWER my car, but i dont really know whats good for it. i wana drop my ride, 2.5 front, 2.25 rear. i heard tokiko isnt all that great for integs. i'm not really a fan of coilovers, so i wana stick with a spring/shock setup. anyone know whats good? right now i got some SKUNK 2 springs PENDING. i havent bought them yet. are they any good? and what kind of shocks are recomended? or can i just ride on stock shocks for right now?.... remember its a 97. give me some names and prices.
ok, enough bout suspension, now its the engine.
intake:
i'm thinking bout getting an AEM V2 INTAKE. i havent seen/heard anyone with one on a GSR. i know some people with a normal AEM cold air/bypass setup, and they are doing fine. so whats preferred? AEM V2? or a normal AEM COLD AIR?
headers:
ok, i dont know bout yealls places, but down here... NO ONE knows bout cars, even them inspection people. so im thinking bout the 4-1 headers? my friend has a civic with 4-1 headers and its doing good, but thats a civic. i know its not street legal, but yaa, no one here knows bout that. what kind though? DC or what?
exhaust:
hmmm like any other filipino dad, they go for the exhaust first. my dads planning on buying my exhaust, so im up for that. he's giving me a $500 budget on it though. soooo what would u get? i dont want a too LOUD exhaust where everyones guna want to be racing me. i heard APEX'I N1 is good for that. but im leaning towards a GREDDY EVO? so whats your advice.
sorry about all the questions people. if u want any pics of my ride, my e-mail addy is STYLNPNOI@MSN.COM

umm hmm 4-1 is illegal why. and 500 is a plenty for an exhaust or a part that will add a whole sum of 2 hp at the crank. but afterall it is your dads money. ok well i am liking the fireball by 5zigen. the world sport by dc is the quietest i think. and i heard a magnaflow on my friends maxima and it doesnt make any noise either. the choice is yours

My parents are both Filipino and they hate the fact that i work on my car so much. They always claim i'm doing more damage to the car than repair. I got used to it, its just because they dont have a clue about how to work on a car, and just because they dont know how, they automatically think that i dont know how either. Thats what i call a real typical Filipino parent. They dont like my exhaust either, its "too loud". And my car is "too low".
Try a set of H&R race springs with KYB AGX shocks. It'll drop you where you want to be. The stock shocks will NOT handle that kind of a drop no matter what, but if you really want to feel the improvement of good shocks over stock, then go for the springs just for now. The combo should be roughly 500 bucks right there, but well worth it. Once you've got those in, you're going to need a camber kit, and an alignment. I recommend that you go for Ingalls (150) or Skunk (200) for the front. You dont need the rear camber kit as long as you get a good alignment.
Where are you from? If you're outside of California, its likely it doesnt matter what kind of header you run, since the smog laws in other states are less strict. I recommend Comptech, JG Edelbrok, RSR, factory ITR (Integra Type R).
If you're already leaning towards a Greddy Evo, good for you, its a great exhaust system, with great sound, fit and relatively good power gains when compared to other complete exhaust systems.

I have evo on my car, and it's louder than what I had expected (I got pulled over just for exhaust noise). I've never heard anything bad about tokico shocks. I currently use tokico blues with skunk2 coilovers on 17 inch wheels, but my ride is just fine.
