Default help with susp swap.

im getting ready to take my ground controls off. this is my first time doing it all by myself, so i want to make sure i have everything straight.

i took off the front wheel, and the front looks pretty straight forward.

i took off the rear and had a little trouble trying to figure out which bolts to remove.

can someone give me a how to on how to do the rear of a 99 sedan. im pretty sure its similar if not the same as the coupes.

here is what i have so far.

-remove the 2 nuts that are accessible from the trunk area, the nuts used to hold in a rear strut bar.

-remove the bolt / nut that holds the "fork" of the shock to the control arm

can someone take over from there? i know i have to remove a LCA bolt, not exactly sure which one. heres a pic.

thanks for the input. also, if there is a DIY online, can you please link it. i seen the one from c-speed already.

If its like a civic there should be two more bolts. If you take off the wheel and are looking directly at the shock they should be to the left of it. There are two bolts right next to each other holding in the same piece.

go to your local acura dealer and they will give you a copy of instructions for the front and rear disassembly and reassembly for the shocks and springs. good luck with the back lower control arm bolt, i broke mine off and i had to take the whole arm off and take it to the dealer to have the bushings pushed out, then buy new bushings for that hole, plus the new bottom bolt.

i know exactly what you are talking about. its the piece that holds the UCA up right.

luckily i didnt run into problems with the LCA bolts. but*

i messed up the threads on the rod, and now the nut wont come off. or screw back on. when the car is off the jacks, the rod only sticks a few centimeters up. whereas, normally, it would stick out a good 5-6 cms. im trying to think of a way to get this fixed.

I have trouble with only removing the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock to the lca. I found it easier to remove the bolt that holds the caliper and the rotor to the lca. In the pic above you cant see the bolt, the head is on the opposite side of the bottom shock bolt. Then ( for me) its easier because i had a friend jack the rotor/caliper up and I would step on the lca with my foot and the shock basically fell out. Thats the easiest way for me. Ask any more q's if you want will

the nut wont move on the shock rod at all?!?! if it is crossthreaded, you could force it off and just rethread the shock. the nut can be replaced, so thats not a big deal, but how bad is the actual shock?

how do you force the nut off? the shock is holding up fine. but the rod is kinda damaged....

the weird thing is, i have another nut that came with the shocks, i tried to thread that nut onto the other rods, it wont fit on any of the shocks. feels like the thread is messed up on all of them.

also, how does rethreading work? thanks for the help.

I would contact kyb. They might replace that shock if you call and complain.
