I don't know why noone ever suggests it, but the best way to get off those emblems (also works great for bugs & tar) is to use some adhesive tape remover. Some of the strongest stuff comes in the little pads or if you can't find that, use some Elmer's Glue Out. They use a concentrated citric acid to dissolve the adhesive like bug & tar removers, only much, much stronger. It's safe for clearcoats, though I'd recommend you wash it off after you're done.
