Whoops, I got them confused. What would cause my car to run lean?

Dirty injectors, clogged fuel filter, low fuel pressure, broken sensors, etc.

Usually the first two.

I'll run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, and I have to change my fuel filter here soon. Hopefully that helps.

Now damn, I'm no shingo or fat booty, but that sounds damn slow to me, no offense acuraman. Either your not pushing you car too hard, or its not running right. <-- or I just didn't know that there was that much of a difference between manual's and autos.

Would that be when I am taking it up in the high rpms, and I hear like a loud, not too loud, but decently loud noise? Like detonation. Yea I think I've detonated a couple of times already. But its been real sparingly. Like a few months ago, and then maybe like once a month ago. Not like a whole lot. Is it causing harm?

I just recently installed an Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulator, and I'm running it at a higher psi because of my new cams, so it can't be running lean cause of psi. Plus I've not heard it in a long time, not once since hte new FPR. So I don't know. Maybe I fixed it.

Yes, it will destroy your engine.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Without one of those you have no idea what the real fuel pressure is.

Yes I have a FPG. I bought the guage and FPR when I got the cams and cam gears just recently. I bumped the fuel flow up 4psi, like skunk2 recommended with their stage 1 cams. But I'm going to get my car dyno tuned here with in the next couple of weeks anyways. So shouldn't they fix this problem anyways?

Only if you have an air-fuel controler, programmable ECU, or something similar. A fuel pressure regulator is not a very exact tuning tool, as is changes the air/fuel along the full rev band with only one adjustment. If the lean condition is due to a mechanical problem with your car, having someone try to tune it out is not the way to go.

How many miles does your car have on the clock? Have the injectors ever been cleaned and balanced? Fuel injector cleaner is more of a preventative maintinace item, it will not clean and balance old and dirty injectors. I did hear of a trick that involves using four bottles at once... but I would advise against it.
