Anyone know if my tranny is toast? My car will not move at all forward under any gear or reverse as it just revs and goes nowhere. Could it be a broken cable connected to the gear lever or is my whole tranny history? I've got an automatic 96 Se with 160 000 miles.

 

make sure u have tranny fluid, may car had a tranny leak and there was no more fluid. it did the same thing ur explaining.

If the fluid is OK, check out the shifter cable. It could be a broken or disconnected cable like you first said. The transmission stays in park when you move the lever...

 

Took it to the mechanic and he told me my tranny is history. It will cost me 1600 us
