hey, i got a Teg 95 RS, So far I got cold air intake, Exedy Clutch, and Fidanza Flywheel (both are going in next weekend).

My question is for cat converters, I used the search but it didnt help me. I see cat converters on ebay for like $60 (obx?), and was wondering if i would have any problems with emmisions if i were to put one these things on, if so is there any other cat's out there that are free(r) flowing and that wont kill me with emmsion testing?

Next step for me will be headers, and cat back exhaust (hopefully within a month or two), and if I can get some help from you friendly people, I'll put a cat in also.

Depending on your state, emissions shouldnt be a problem assuming your motor is in normal shape (IE not overly rich or burning a ton of oil, etc).

I would go Carsound or Catco personally. Although I have no experience with OBX cats specifically, I would prefer a company that is more "proven" when it comes to a cat. Do it once, do it right. Cheaper cats tend to fail prematurely by clogging or having the material inside come apart and rattle.

Unless your stock cat is giving you problems, I wouldn't bother with a replacement until you're going about upgrading the rest of the exhaust system (i.e. the header and catback).

 

thanks for the input. I am actually going to replace the cat along with the rest of the entire exhaust. My car has 120,000 miles, and so im sure the cat is getting full.

any good places online to buy these cats?

cats dont get full. unless it is clogged, or everything has been blown out of it, it should be working fine.

 

well highflow cats are good and whatever, like carsound and random tech are pretty good.

well if u want the best free flowing cat and dont care about emissions, go with a testpipe. but you will pull a CEL if u dont run like a o2 simluator.

 

Running a test pipe on a street car is messed up. Running without a cat has some very bad impacts for the environment Everyone has to breate the air you pollute.

I kinda like my random tech. Most people seem to prefer carsound, but my RT cat seems to be fairly solidly built. Also, suprisingly enough, the fitment on the RT cat was better than with my stock cat. :eh:

 

did u know that paint fumes and cans of hairsprays also pollute the environment??

if ur soo worried about the environment then u should talk to the endless amout of domestic cars out there that run open exhaust or straight pipes......

just remember that at the track almost 75% of the car there are cat less.......NHRA and funny cars, and most import drags cars are really worried about polluting.
