Default clutch....

i just got my ACT clutch this past sept. brand new and my pedal is already sticking to the floor and the nasty, unforgetable smell is coming from my engine, you know the smell, when your clutch is startin to go. well i can shift and everything just fine, it's just that sometimes right after i shift and i put pressure on the gas pedal i hear a little bit of rubbing. i just want to know if it's possible to go through a clutch this fast. keep in mind i got my license suspended at the end of sept and didn't get it back til the end of dec. and i live in ohio so no rough driving while there is snow and i don't race TOO often. also a friend of mine said he'd put in a brand new stock clutch for me for $200... what do y'all think?

I have a few possible explanations..

1) It was installed incorrectly
2) Your clutch assembly is bad
3) You did not "break-in" your new clutch properly

and...I'm assuming you can drive stick properly. :a:

Good luck.

well the clutch was installed by some friends who work at the local firestone who also both have GS-R's. don't know about the clutch assembly although the slave master cyl. was just replaced about 20k mi. ago. and the "break-in", i waited my 200-300 mi. b4 i really got on it. oh well though... it's not really that bad and i think i'm gonna go ahead and put the new stock in

I think you shouldn't let these SAME friends put another clutch in your car. That would eliminate one of the factors that Kaiz listed above.

Either the installers sucked ass, or you didn't wait the appropriate amount of time to break in the clutch. My instructions stated to drive it mildly for 1,000 miles, for my Exedy Organic Clutch.
