Which lightweight flywheel?

My car is boosted and I run it pretty hard, so with lots of torque and heat, aluminum will eventually warp. With a quality made chromoly fw you shouldnt have to worry about the starter chewing up the teeth on it. I think only jun and spoon had this problem. Some good chromoly fw's are comptechs, todas, and exedys.

The aluminum used in these flywheels is extremely strong. Warping/shattering really isnt a reality when using a well engineered aluminum flywheel. Its true, Chromoly steel is physically a stronger metal, but usually is heavier than an aluminum flywheel, and much pricier. Lighter is better, and why spend extra $ on something that you dont need? Dont get me wrong, a lot of guys like their Chromoly FW's, and the Toda is very nice, I just dont see the need for it.

Hahaha nick, I thought you were calling me an idiot at first and I was like...hmmm I thought we were cool. Lol.
Anyhow, back to the point. I think aluminum flywheels are great for the street or all motor drag cars but with the extended periods of heat and high torque outputs in autox and monster torque drag cars, the little extra money on chomoly is worth the extra insurance from warpage. The lightlest fw's out there are aluminum though. There is no definate answer to which one everyone should get. Choose what fw fits your application the best and what price range youre in. But if you want to be cool like me get chomoloy :fawk:

Haha nah, I should edit that anyway, but I wont. Kind of low, but I wasnt the one on the offensive
I dont think its possible for a well designed aluminum flywheel to fail unless its defective, personally. I think its just as good for our applications as Chromoly in terms of strength.
Comptech actually has an 8.75lb Chromoly flywheel, which is pretty light for the material. I still say why sacrifice weight for a benefit that you'll never realize in terms of strength of steel.
But hey, Chromoly does roll off your tongue nicely when listing modifications

I'm guessing being an arrogant prick is a qualification for moderator...

Why is he being an arrogant prick by stating his opinion of your posts? He's just making an observation about the quality of your posts when you questioned the quality of mine.
Relax dude, we're here to talk about cars. Im just trying to make sure that when people say things (including myself) they know what theyre talking about.
