antenna help

Well....since the retractor motor is still running, the toothed plastic strap inside the antenna is probably still in one piece. That's a good thing..
To fix it.. turn on the radio to extend the antenna, then lube the antenna mast with a WD-40 soaked rag. Don't get the lubricant on the paint; it's a bish to clean off.
Then cycle the radio on and off, so that the antenna retracts and extends as far as it can. Repeat lube as needed.
Let me know if that does it...
Good luck.

I had the same thing happen to my car, and it turned out the the antenna mast was broken. Just because you hear the motor, doesn't mean that the mast is still intact. Most likely your mast(plastic strap) just snapped. I went on ebay and got a mast for $25 and replaced it myself.
The S2k antenna has a nicer look, but gets bad reception outside city limits. Most people just put in the antenna ($30), but to get good reception you need to buy the entire antenna system ($80).

i assume it's a hatch, if so you have to remove the driver side interior hatch panel or just pop it half way off (as you have to take the rear seat out to get it completely off) you have to take off the rear cover(behind tail lights) which has roughly 4 top clips and 2 towards the bottom. then there are a couple of bolts on the rear section of the hatch panel(driverside) in and around the upper strut cover, after removing these you can pop out the rest of the hidden clips by tugging lightly, once in you may have to prop the panel out from antena area(if not fully removed) i believe there are 2 bolts that hold the motor in and one wiring plug, easiest to remove the motor from car instead of leaning and laying in hatch, once the 2 nuts and wires are off you also have to take the top mast nut off(which does require special tool or in my case channelocks and a rag !) the only prob is getting the mast out of the antena shaft, the track will come with ease but there might be part of the mast that is frozen in the tube and has to be cut out(or buy a complete unit motor and all) there is a round cover that the track coils into and it will probably have 2 pieces in it, thus being the prob.

Yeah, since I hardly ever listen to the radio, I simply used the spare parts from the dead antenna to build a plug. From the outside, it looks identical to a retracted antenna.
When the bodykit goes on, I'll switch to an in-glass inductive antenna (if I can find one) and shave/fill the stock hole.
