Default can't launch right!

i took my stuff to the drag strip tonight for the first time. my lowest was a 16.3, don't laugh. anyway, almost everytime i launch, i let 1st almost hit redline and then i throw it to 2nd. the problem is, my rpms drop from like 6600 to like 2 something when i go to 2nd....it completely slows me down, like i'm having to start all over again. most of my launches started at pretty high rpms and i spun a lot but even when i didn't, it still seemed to happen. whats the deal?

When you spin all of first gear to redline, you arent going very fast MPH wise....so when you shift to 2nd gear, your rpms might be at 6600 but you arent going fast enough for those rpms.....therefore they drop according to how fast you are going. Try not launch so high, or let your tires grab before jumping on the gas.

Before you shift you gotta get some traction first. The rpms might say yer at redline but its deceiving because youre spinning the wheels the entire way. Let off the thorttle a little if you peel constantly and let the tires grab. Did you lower your tire pressure for more sidewalk on the ground?

No I didn't lower my tire pressure but I totally get what you guys are saying about it thinking that it's going faster than it is. I guess I'll lower my rev before my take off and try that.

WHat is everyones 1/4 mile times?
