Default Properly breaking in a 2000 GSR

I have just had my engine (Short block and head) replaced at 80 000 kms under warrenty as it was burning 1 litre of oil every 400 kms.

I was wondering the proper way to break in a the engine.

Im not positive about how to do this, but its pretty much common sence. Just take it easy for the first thousand miles or so and dont redline it at all.......

jus curious, did you redline it a lot or drive it regular when it was burning the oil? And it was burning not leaking oil right?

don't readline it and vary speeds. Don't do all highway speeds for the 1st 1,000 miles. Make sure you do a bunch of different driving situations

For the first 200 miles don't go above 4000 rpm. You can "zing" it to 5000 every once in a while but don't do it a lot.

For the next 200 miles don't go above 5000 rpm. Zing it to 6000 every once in a while.

For the next 200 miles don't go above 6000 rpm. Zing it to 7000 every once in a while.

For the next 200 miles don't go above 7000 rpm. Zing it to redline every once in a while.

When cruising on the highway, never stay in one gear for more than 5 minutes. Shift between 5th and 4th so you can vary the revs, and also try to not let your speed stay constant.

Change the oil after the first 1500 miles.

accel in all gears(close to redline)and then decel too(with engine)
but Don't stay at high rpms for long
change oil after first 40 miles then at 500

this is my opinion, others will disagree.
