What model integra do you have? The GS-R(b18c1) and Type R(b18c5) can rev a lot higher than the RS\LS\GS(b18b) can. I mis-shifted one time just as you did. Hit about 8,000 in 2nd gear in my old 91 LS teg, which redlines at like 6300 I believe, it turned out to be fine. If it cranks up okay, you should be alright. If you start hearing knocking soon...umm..it's not ok.

REPOST! but that ticking could be just you now noticing how loud the injectors are.

can also be your valves or it can be that you might have bent some valves. It probably not that bent but enough to be noticed. My integra had bent valves on number 3 piston when i took my head off. i did the same thing as you did.

that clicking noise is more than likely your valves. You may wanna get a compression test, that'll tell you whats wrong. You may only need to get your valves realigned. what are your rpms at idle??

I don't think 9k is so bad for a GS-R engine. I accidentally hit 8k in my LS once and everything was fine. The ticking you hear could be your fuel injectors and/or valves. Mine got a lot quieter after a valve adjustment, but there's still a lot of ticking from the injectors. In fact, the injectors are so loud that my friend thought my engine was all messed up when I had it idling with the hood open once.

If your block wasn't cracked from the incident ( which i doubt ), then the tapping noises are coming from your valves. Just goto a shop and get them re-aligned, and the noise will go away.
