Default !990 teg drivin me crazy

Ok i have spent the majority of the day looking over this forum for a problem like mine, cant come up with anything definite tho. I have a 220,000 mile 4 dr 1990 acura teg. So, yesterday after driving my car about 10 minutes it shut off going about 50mph after i started from a stop sign (not under hard throttle btw). Only thing odd leading up to this, is the car was producing a white smoke under hard, high rpm, throttle. Now it will not start, it turns over really strong, but just wont start up. Tach doesnt even jump when you turn it over....

Since getting it back to the house and checking a few things, it has no spark or fuel. Fuel pumps not even humming, nothing. Pulled a plug, done a check and no spark either. Checked main relay, clicks when key is turned on (guessing that means its working properly). Fuses under hood and dash are good. Pulled valve cover, timing belt still tight and in one piece - cams turnin good - seems the motor itself is workin properly.

I dunno if there is another electrical connection that would pretty much shut everything down if it goes bad or what.... but im startin to run out of ideas. Lights, horn, radio, interior lights, everything else in the car works as normal. Any ideas of something i can check?

The high rpm smoke is a common occurrence in high mileage cars. When you turn the key on, does your check engine light up at all, even for a second? Also, just because the main relay clicks doesn't mean it's ok, the contacts can still be bad in it. You have to check it with a meter.

Yea it started smokin after it sat about a week when i was out of town. I figured it was the rings or something of that nature. The check engine light does come on, all the normal lights come on as well. I checked the main relay with a meter, it checks out good.

I checked the terminal that the fuel pump hooks up to (under the back seat) and it checks out good. Its gettin juice to it, but the pump still not makin a sound at all or anything. Im thinkin it prob the fuel pump, but wanna try to make sure cause thats 200$ that i cant afford to blow if its not the actual problem.

Check the power and grounds. Maybe try cracking open the line on the fuel rail and see it gas comes out when you turn the car on. Could be a clogged filter.

yea i took the screw off the the top of the right line going into the fuel filter, and turned it over. I suspect gas should come out of it while turning the car over? But nothing... Ill try the line on the fuel rail as well. And which power and ground are you suggesting i check?

I was referring to the ground at the pump. You should have fuel with the key on, doesn't have to be cranking. If you have power at the pump, and a good ground also, then it would be your pump is bad.

Oh ok, i disconnected the plug to the pump, and with the key on i tested it with a volt meter and it was pullin enough that it should be workin. I just wanted to try to make sure thats what it was before i pulled it out.. Thanks for the help.

Check the fuel pump relay. It commonly fails on Hondas/Acuras. I had to replace mine. It is under the dash and easy to replace.
