Help! Instrument cluster....
Hey guys, been a while.....
Gotta problem. I don't know what my problem is with my speedo, but I've been into this thing alot lately.
I have a brand new speedo cable from Acura. Put it in, everything is hunky-dory, a week later, the speedo quits working again. I just saw the needle drop while I was on the highway.
It makes an awful grinding noise for a while and then shuts up for the most part.
I am sure my cable is good, at 148k miles, does the speedo gauge just quit working?
90' LS
Thanks!

i had the same problem with my integra. i pulled out the cluster and it stopped working. it also made grinding noises too. my guess is that it is the actual speedo itself, and since you can't find the speedo alone, you have to get a new cluster. the speedo cracked on mine (it has a plastic backing, which cracked). so get a new cluster and put it in, but be careful, its obviously delicate.

Latest update....
Installed my new "used" cluster last night. Remember, I also have a new cable. Go down the road, get up to 20 MPH and it drops back to zero! Back in the garage, I disconnected the cable from the tranny, chucked the cable up in my drill, and rigged a mirror so I could see the speedo from outside, and it worked!! Called an Acura repair specialist this morning, walk through the details with him. We get down to the speedo sensor and I recall seeing it "wobble" in the tranny housing while I'm installing the cable. He says that it would have been causing the trouble all along.......
I will check it out tonight.....Has this ever happened to any of you?
Would one remove this speedo sensor when installing a clutch?
Maybe the bolt backed out? :dunno:
