just a quick word of advice:

if u know your starter is about to go, don't put it off like i did. the other night, it finally turned over, but the damn starter wouldn't shut off. i pulled out the key, and it was STILL going. next there was smoke and a horrible burning smell. i had to disconnect the battery, but was laughing at my own stupidity for not replacing it earlier.

anyway, it's a pretty easy thing to replace, just two bolts and two wires to it

 

ouch.... didn't you have to replace the belt too? i suspect that screwed up a few things

 

if it happens to anyone here again
just remember you have 15 sec. before the starter burn-out
more than 15 sec. it won't look too good

That reminds me. I need to replace mine soon. The thing that scares me, is that it usually flakes out every few months. Well it's been longer than anticipated, so I have a feeling it'll crap out at the worst time. However, I've been getting alot of practice from push starting the car .

 

yeah it started crapping out on me a few months ago. i'm glad this happened in front of my friend's house though, i couldve been stranded in the heart of east san jose.
