Default Tempted to trade LS for Type-R

Right now I drive a 98 LS, its pretty hooked up. I personally think it looks nice and I've gotten complemented now that I put on some silver colored 17's with low-pros. But I am so tempted to go out and trade my LS beauty for a Type-R. What do you all think?

If not I'm just gonna turbo this puppy and go from there. thanx

Depends if your into performane, or show..Id get the type r and take off all the badges and paint it BRG (british racing green) so its not such a hot item for theives.

I think it depends on how much you spent on your LS already, as well as how much you have to spend since a good Type R will cost a lot of $$$.

Show us some pics of your LS. It may be worth it to stick with it and turbo it. Atleast you know how much the car has been beaten on.

Personally I would do it

But it really depends on what you want, and what you are willing to spend. If you want balls out performance, the turbo LS is going to be faster than a Stock TypeR... and chances are you are going to spend at least as much as a turbo installed in trading your car for a TypeR.

But the TypeR does have a great engine with lots of potential, better handling, plus all sorts of other goodies (like the interior peices, and sport seats, etc)

Drawback is the TypeR doesn't have some of the luxuries that an LS has. No sunroof, less sound deadening material, etc

Pros and Cons for both ways.

I bought mine new last summer, I had to settle for an LS. There were only two left in the area and I had to get into a car ASAP. I wish I could've held out for a GSR.

The dealer told me that there would be a chance that ITR #0004 from 97 is going to be traded in soon, and they offered me a chance. Only 60,000 on it, well maintained. I'd rather have the new LS for the luxury aspect. I wouldn't want to drive the R daily, personally.

With enough aftermarket parts, you can make a LS outperform a Type-R. I've heard of LS'es with aftermarket swaybars/shocks/springs beating the pants off a stock R on the skidpad. The Type-R clearly has a better motor, but that doesn't mean you can't make a LS engine faster. VTEC would be nice, but it's not a requirement for going fast, nor is a really high redline.

So, it's really a matter of if you think it's cooler to have a true Type-R or to make a LS outperform one. It would be pretty sweet to have a Type-R, but it's more economical and fun for me to mod my LS than buy an R. Do what's better for you.

dollar for dollar, the R chasis is stiffer, well supported, and nearly impossible to fabricate from an LS... with that said, are you looking at a daily driver with some nice luxuries, or a weekend warrior?
