Default Secret of the 9005 Silverstar Conversion

Yesterday when I was doing the conversion for myself, i realized I was wasting my time trying to cut out the tabs inside the bulb.

Inside your socket for the bulb, there is a white plastic piece that covers the actual socket holes.

TAKE THIS OUT!

You can fit any bulb you want in there now, all it is, is some plastic cover that take up space inside the socket of the headlight, hense, allowing you to only use one type of bulb without modifying.

So there you go....

i'd rather modify the bulb, not the socket.

i don't like the idea of modifying the socket.. like i said, i'd rather modify a bulb that shouldn't be there in the first place anyway.

I bet he means it is possible to stick that thing back in. But you could always misplace it or something. So I would rather modifyl the bulb.

takes out the hassle of trying to mod the bulb.. and hoping something bad doesnt happen and you ruin a 30 dollar bulb :|

not everyone is so careful :\

I know somebody that widened the slot on the 9006 harness plug so that a 9005 would fit on there. That seems like a pretty good idea, and a 9006 would still fit on there w/ no problem (since it clicks on and stays tightly plugged in anyway).

With a hot sodering iron the conversion takes less than a minute. I blew one of my cool blues a week ago and I just converted one of my high beams over untill I can get another one. It took hardly any time. Great idea for an alternative for people that aren't comfortable carving up an expensive bulb though. Good thinking!
