Noise when turning wheel...
Hello all,
Im new to this board and have found a wealth of info for my 95 2dr Integra. My car has 158,000 miles on it and has been really bullet proof. I literally have had to replace nothing other than routine oil changes and service. Its been pretty incredible.
However, I'm starting to hear Gremlins under the hood!
I'm having a problem w/ the steering...When I turn the wheel (almost to lock) in tight situations like parking, I get this moaning noise. Its rather loud and embarrasing.
I checked the power steering fluid last night and its right where its supposed to be.
Any suggenstions on what else to check myself or does it need a trip to the dealer?
Also, Im going to replace the spark plug and air filter this weekend...any do's or don'ts on that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys!

If you had said it makes noise when you were at full-lock & kept trying to turn the wheel a little further, then I'd say check the PS belt for slipping.
Maybe the PS pump is going... Think you got your money's worth out of it? How does the fluid look? Maybe drain it & put in fresh PS fluid to see if that helps.
How about brakes? Usually the pad-wear tabs make a grinding or screetching sound (fingernails on a chalkboard). But one time mine made this noise kinda like moaning...
Spark plugs & air filter... Well, at 158k this can't be the first time you've ever done it. Measure the compression just for kicks while the plugs are out. Don't drop any debris down into the sparkplug holes... Let the engine get cold before putting in the new plugs, so you can get them out next time without resorting to explosives.

Hey man,
My car does the same groaning thing. I've experienced it before in other cars, and it is a little annoying. I would just replace the power steering fluid. Does the car seem to struggle a little more when it makes this noise?
