Default I'm Grinding!!!

[COLOR=blue][FONT=arial]This is my first posting here on the forum and any response will be appreciated. First off, I'm able to shift freely on 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and reverse. The 3rd always grinds. When i double clutch it goes in freely, sometimes other times it still grinds. I've noticed that when i rev my engine and shift it also helps out sometimes. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I've also noticed that sometimes it's hard for me to go into the first gear, but doesn't grind!

Dude I have the same problem in my 92 GSR. I am told that this is the first thing to go wrong with Honda transmissions. Mine isn't a terrible grind yet, but it is pretty noticeable. I'm going to get my tranny rebuilt eventually, but for now I am just going to stick with what I got. You should be able to get around fine for a WHILE if it's just third and not too bad of a grind. You may want to buy a tranny from a junkyard teg or something, but it's a gamble: Could have the same problem... Good luck to you!

New tranny fluid solves most transmission problems.

And for the love of god, use Honda MTF, not motor oil.

yes i know i should use the MTF, but was told by countless people that the integras from 95 back called for 10-40 motor oil only... but ill use honda mtf anyway, hope it works..

ok, so how's that work? Do you drain out the motor oil that's already in the tranny and then just fill it up with Honda MTF?

Find those people and kill them.

It's just like changing your oil. Pull the drain plug, let it leak out, put the plug back in, and pour MTF in until it leaks out the intake hole. Close intake hole, and you're done.

qtiger,

It does say in my Helms manual that you can use Motor Oil as a temporary replacement for Honda MTF.

That must have been where the misscommunication came from...
