Default rebuild motor?

Hey, I have a 94 gsr with 170,000 miles, and i think the rings are going bad. I was wondering if you think its worth it to have the motor totally rebuilt. If so how much would it cost? Do you think it would be cheeper to just get another motor?

It is probably cheaper to rebuild the b18c1. Just make sure the block itself is ok. Normally it is cheaper to just get a whole used engine, but the gsr engine is kinda expensive. You might be able to find a good deal though.

For the price of a new b18c1, you could probably rebuild your old one with aftermarket internals and make it put down a decent amount of power.

I like that idea. It may not be cheaper than getting a new (to you) engine, but it's a good idea.

rebuild it and put high performance parts in it such as crower cams/valve springs/retainers/valves. as for block get it bored and put in high performance pistons/rods/bearings and mabey even a stroker kit. it will be worth it cuz after u do that u can put turbo or n2o or whatever u want , the engine will be able to handle it

Once you start talking about boring your block your talking about a bunch of money. I would say rebuild the old one with stock parts and just make sure that the block and head are in good shape. I say this because the rest of the car still has a lot of miles on it but of course I don't know what it looks like. Just for everyones info. a stock motor can easily run n2o or turbo with no problems as long as it's tuned properly.

I vote for the rebuild.
