on the G3:

Under the dash on the right side to the left of the glovebox is where the cable comes out and connects to a pin on the heater control. Pop it off of the pin and unclip the cable

Pop out the hazard and defroster buttons & disconnect wires
Remove the two screws in the back.

The thing shold slide out a few inches. Disconnect the other two heater control cables - doing this is a pain in the nuts.

Then it'll slide out all of the way. You are removing the heater controls and the top two vents at the same time.

After that, you can fix the bracket as in my previous post.
