i will never buy anything but a pioneer head unit. right now i have the old series deh-p8000r head unit. it is the first one they made that had that display where you fly through space and around a town. not much for the new pioneers but my friends does have a new button they came out with that makes the music a lot clearer. did i hear right that eclipse took over soundstream?

Thanks for your replies guys...the case is closed...I got a pioneer deh6300, and that thing SCREAMS !!!!! I was blown away by the quality of the sound, especially the highs. My unit cames with that new OEL sh*t (the changing graphics) and some new sound system control that actuality controls different areas in the car's cabin ! Hell, I can even hook up a cell phone to it !! And you knwo what ? I got the whole thing for under 230 $ !!!!! PIONEER KICKS ASS !!!!

hold down the audio button when the unit is on till it changes to a different screen. here u can really tweak the hell out of it.
2 down & u get more in your face sound, 2 up & u get more of a soft surround in the freq. that u want. for stock speakers i'd suggest 80 HZ maybe 1 down, but it all depends on the music your listening to. i used to sell these units, so i know them pretty darn well. let me know if you have any questions, glad to help any way i can.

Werd. I wouldn't take an Alpine for free.

I have a Clarion and its nuts. I had one for 3 years, never one problem, bought the DXZ715 and its been 2 years and no problems on this one either. Slap on the DPH910 DSP and you can adjust every frequency, +/-12 dB, every 1/3 octave. I do RTA for competitions and before I do the comp, I go get an RTA reading, take the sheet and adjust it accordingly on my DSP, and I almost hit a 39 RTA (lost 6 fvcking points for a major deviation between 16 and 20 kHz ).

CENet on Clarion is awesome. If you add Clarion signal systems and CD changers, you don't need power, RCA's or any other wire other than the CENet cable. And it supports fiber optics. Sweet.

Anyway, that's my "I love Clarion" rant. The only thing I would consider other than Clarion is Eclipse.

Peace.

My setup:

Head Unit: Clarion DRX8675Z ($50.00 from a friend)
Amp: Alpine F-356 5-Channel 540watt Amp ($199.00 brand new)
Speakers: Infinity Kappa Components, 5.25" ($79.00)
Rears: DEI 6" Mid RearFill Speakers ($50.00)
Subs: Pioneer (2) 8" Sub Woofs in custom box ($100.00 friend)

Total system: $478.00.
Can't complain.

Oh, add like 6 hours of install time, interior removable, dynamat placing, etc.

I like my clarion too. If you really want screaming highs get an amp for the highs. Itll play louder without distorting.
