Thanks for the replies so far guys.

The Eagle F1's... anyone heard anything about those? Are they any good? They look like a really good tire, but I don't know anyone with them. I was actually considering these, but no one ever mentioned them before.

The Bridgestone 03's seem pretty expensive... even more than the Toyo's, didn't think that was possible. I take it people have had a lot of good experience with these?

Rain traction is prett important for me. I don't like hydroplaning, and if I get caught in the rain on the crap roads we have in this part of the country, I could get in trouble.

Thanks

The Ecsta MX is a "dry" performance tire kind of like the BFG g-Force KD or Falken Azenis so if it rains a lot you may want to stay away.

The Eagle F1 GS-D3 is supposed to be Goodyear's top of the line dry/wet performance tire. It competes with the Bridgestone S-03, Yokohama AVS Sport and Michelin Pilot Sport. The compound is a bit harder so it lasts longer and isn't quite as loud. I would say that in terms of dry performance it's a step between the Dunlop SP9000 and the aforementioned three tires. Not a bad choice at all really, although if you want the best wet traction out there the S-03 is the way to go.

Ok well, the S03's are way too expensive for me, I can't afford them this round.

I am in a tie between the Goodyear F1's and Toyo Proxes T1S. I have heard nothing but good so far about the treadwear and dry / wet performance. I guess it's going to come down to price, but I'll probably do a bit more research first.

If anyone else has any comments I welcome them.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, for a 205-40-17, it will be much more expensive.

Can I ask, where you guys found the weight for the 57pro's? I know the the 57C's are 18lbs @ 17", but I just want to get an accurate number, instead of assuming they are 22lbs from the statement in the first post (about being 4lbs heavier).

Thanks in advance!

I ran my MXs pretty hard in the rain last night, to see how they hold up. I've got like 450 miles on them now, so they're getting grippier.

TireRack rated them lower in the water categories, but they're still better than the SP5000s, rain or not.

That's why I just switched from 17" to 15" inch rims. Plus my CD player would skip everytime I went over a bump.
