I would start by checking out the speed sensor (VSS)

loose connections at the back of the cluster maybe. the car runs and drives as usual right? probably just connection problems or the cluster itself is not working. weird situation there buddy

Just in case anybody reads this.... I just had the same issue: both speedometer and odometer stopped working in my 98 GS-R. Most of the forum help pointed toward VSS, such as VSS cable connection at the transmission.

Looked in the Helms manual, and the first thing it says is to check Fuse 15, a 7.5A fuse in the under-dash cluster. Beats me which one was Fuse 15.... there were probably a total of four 7.5A fuses, and the second one I pulled out was burned out. Replaced the burned-out fuse with the spare 7.5A fuse that Acura kindly provides off to the side.... and now I have a speedometer/odometer again.

After replacing the fuse, I looked at the plastic guide on that little dash door that swings out.... That fuse was labeled something like "Alternator/SP sensor".

Now if you asked me why the fuse blew, and if it's a problem.... for now, I'll just wait to see if it blows again any time soon.....
