GS motor swap
#12
I think all models except the RS was available with leather. The RS came with power windows only, the LS, GS, and SE were all the same aside from a couple little minor details like color matched mirrors and side moldings. The non-VTEC models came with a slightly different suspension. The GS-R and ITR came with different sway bars and strut bars.

there were so many variations between power windows/power locks/ac/sunroof/cruise/abs that were dependent on the year of the car. some option combos were only available one year also.
a 94 RS was barebones - power nothing, no ac etc. subsequent RS models may have had ac/power windows etc.
some GSR's had cloth seats. there are actually 3 shades of leather (tan, gray, graphite). some color options were available only on 1 year of car, or only on certain trims (example: citrus silver = automatic sedans only / super sonic blue pearl = GSR coupe only)
i can go on and on.
my 00 LS sedan had a 25mm front sway bar. they updated small suspension bits in the later years.

An LS/VTEC isn't my favorite.. It's a hybrid motor, so it's not going to last a long time. They're almost always going to burn and leak oil along with some other things.

which is why im going the ole gsr swap route, type r swap would be pointless, i could just find a type r for the same cash...but an ls/vtec build is a cheaper route, but not as reliable as a b18c1 (GSR) plus an ls/vtec has to be done correctly

A GSR with a tune will put just as much power to the ground as a stock ITR. With cams, a single stage intake, among a couple little things, GSR will be right up there with an ITR.

I thought the only difference between an ITR and a GSR WERE the cams, compression ratio's, tune in the ECU, and gears in the trans. Was I misinformed?
The ITR was the stop light warrior, the GSR was the highway monster. Gears in the ITR trans are closer than the GSR, which is why the ITR is a little higher strung(my understanding).

Compression in the GSR (B18C1) is 10:1, the ITR's C/R is 10.6:1.
The cams in the ITR had a little bigger duration, so VTEC was moved to 6000rpm, where as it's at 4400 in the GSR because of the slightly different cams and dual stage intake manifold.
Redline for the GSR is 8000rpm, ITR had a slightly bigger redline, because of the powerband from the cams and intake.
The trans in the ITR is also a B16 trans, but with a factory helictical LSD unit.
In all, The B18C1 and B18C5 are the same motor, but with a better flowing head, slightly bumped compression and shorter geared trans.
