Default Dont jack this thread

Searched !

Use the search before posting. Its silly imo to try and get better mpg by not putting a few pounds of gas in your car.

k so just an update in my quest for 28mpg.

Timing is at stock, valves are adjusted. Running new NGK plugs, new cap and rotor, new fuel filter.

Still getting 20 mpg. I got 25mpg for two tanks when i changed out the plugs. Im going to pull the plugs tomorrow and see how they look. What else can i do to get my godamn mileage back?

02 sensor going bad?

You might find 1mpg by making sure that the tires are set a good PSI.

I got 40mpg once on my way from Tucson to Boulder. I must have picked up some super gas in Hatch or something, cuz it was back in the 30's again on the next leg. I think maybe the air was really thin, so my ECU adjusted to just dripping gas into the cylinders

Anyway, you didn't mention if you put any injector cleaner in your latest tank. Did you try that? If you didn't, do it. If you did, that would explain the jump to 25 and then back down to 20.

No i did not put an injector cleaner into the car yet
I've kinda been avoiding it honestly.

My tires are at proper spec, I just had them aligned and checked today actually.

When I pull the plugs I'll be able to see what the engines doing...hopefully they are not black like i think they are going to be.

Is there any way to test to O2 sensor without replacing it?

I did the same to and from San Luis Obispo.
All above 90mph the whole way basically, I got 31mpg.

I can't complain.
I have an LS with stock wires and plugs on an 86,000 mile car with freshly changed oil every 3000 miles and original fuel filter
fear!

OK the plugs are clean, the electrode is a whiteish grey, and on the end of the threads is a tiny bit of soot. No pics, but the plugs are healthy.

Power seems ok on the car, I can't figure out where the mpg is going
