Hola.
I just bought a 94 GSR, had it for about a week now and love it. I use to drive a 90 GS a while back, but was never really active on the fourms... This time around I decided to sign up

Anywho, past the introduction, and sorry to bring this thread back to life, but the stock speakers in this car really do suck . That said, I am planning on ripping them out and putting new ones in, and would appreciate any advice that you guys can dish up.
I've heard that people fit 6x9's in the rear, but all my searching hasn't told me how they do it. I realize you have to pull off the side panel to plunk them in, and im sure I can manage this much, but aside from ripping the inside out, what else is involved in doing this? How do you mount them, is it an easy job, etc... I've searched but only found out that it is possible, not how to do it.

Based on what many people say, they just have 6.5's in the rear and they sound allright. But the stock speakers that are back there arn't really noticeable. I just don't want to buy something and not hear it

Any insight would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

like boogers said, 6x9 in the rear in you have a Sedan. 6 1/2 all around if not. For the front, I got some Alpine type-S and it came with these extenders that screwed into the stock mouting points of the old housing and allowed the bigger magnet to fit. But now my door panel doesnt clip in all the way at the bottom where the speaker is, but its barely noticable. Only when you open the door :hsugh: oh and it is easier if you take off the door panel when installing.
for the rear, you can unscrew the bolts from the trunk and go from there, pretty simple stuff.

should take you a couple hours tops, if even that

I just put Polk Signature Reference speakers in my LS. I have the factory tweeters and the Polks come with a great looking tweeter cup that works where the factory tweeter is located. I need spacers, but am HIGHLY satisfied.. and I should be... fucking things were 800 bones

when i picked mine up the previous owner worked in a speaker shop and they put in reference kicker speakers (replaced all 6) with crossovers. i'm amazed at the sound considering it has the stock head unit and no amp. it's loud, clear, and the crossovers almost make it sound like there's a sub in back.
