Back on subject, a stock B17 makes more tourqe than a stock B16...although, put a .25 overbore 10.2 piston and you've made up for the displacement loss and tourqe would be raised. Point is, if you plan on building an engine, it doesn't really matter what the stock ratings are, unless you plan on stock rebuilds (wimp ) then the 1.6vs1.7vs1.8 won't matter that much. I'm building a 2.1 L LS bottom-end. I could still build a 1.8 B16A bottom just as easily. Stock for stock the B17 should be faster. (slightly)

the b16 g2 will run ok times comparable to an LS....of course the b16 g2 will NEED to have the b16 tranny to keep up. a stock LS will run high 15s, and a stock b16 G2teg will run about the same. the stock G2 GSR is quicker mainly because of its awesome tranny.

the B16 is a decent engine. no better or less than a B18A/B. built, a b16 in a car can be fairly quick. and again, so can the B18A/B. however, drop in a stock B18B in a civic, add a GSR tranny, and itll run high 14s as is (one of our members car was setup exactly like that). u cant do that in a stock b16 in a civic.

Correction, friend has a 94 Civic 4 door, 2nd g B16A i/h/e a/c and p/s, he ran a 14.6 on 17" wheels.
Yeah, that B17 tranny is tight...wait a minute it's exactly the same as the damn 1st gen B16A tranny (S1 for example).

My bad, the first gear is .013 shorter than the S1, but it's still MUCH better, right? I've been VERY hard pressed to see LS Civic coupes run 14 anything.
I had a B16A in a HB and ran a 14.6@94mph, close friend w/ an LS and the same Y21 tranny on Drag Radials ran a 14.8@92 every time we raced on the interstate he'd just get dusted w/ that tranny.
My CRX B16A ran a 14.9 @ 97 mph! I ran on 13" wheels w/ the stock 175/65? tires (****ty). Look at the trap speed, you'll never show me an LS unless it's FULLY built trap speed like that, The REX on sticky tires would have pulled a 13 or a deep 14 (14.0). Once again, the LS is slower my tranny was good for one night the other day and I ran a G2 LS on the interstate...what a joke and a waste of my gas...That ish was slow from a 70+ drop. Wheres the tourqe? What about the LS top end? That was a waste of my gas inspired by this thread. http://www.allmotorhonda.com/techpag...anny_specs.htm
