Default Black 'paint' chipping off engine head

That black sandpaper-like paint is peeling off the head (where DOCH VTEC is embossed) in one or two small areas...the aluminum underneath is slightly oxidized. Could it be heat spots? Just age? Do they sell the same stuff to paint over it?

Yeah...the valve cover. They are coloured red on the ITR's and black on the GSRs.

i suppose you can paint it over with some high temp paint, if you want.

Mine flaked off pretty bad so I stipped it down with Aircraft Coating Remover when I had it off for my timing belt. I got some high temp primer and paint but I was too lazy to repaint it so now it's just bare metal. :dunno: Looks at least better than flaking paint.

You can strip it and repaint it...or just strip it. I like the bare look.

Or you can polish it...thats not bad either.
