new here, integra type r for 6k?
Hey, i'm rishi.
I'm buying my first car and laid my eyes on an integra type r
im' aware of most of its specs, it's very fast. turbo, bov, and 96K miles
however, i dont know what year it is and if it's agood deal.
is 6K a good deal for this type r?
i'm going to be checking the year through vin#

Welcome to HAN!
Well first of all make sure that it indeed is a Type-r (ITR) and not just a clone.
I personally would rather spend 12K on a bone stock ITR then 6K on a modified one, especially one that has been turbocharged!
6K is a heck of a deal, if its in great running order and all the maintenance has been done!
But still, be careful on modified cars because you never know how well the job has been done!
If you can, stay away from it and look around for something less modified!

6K for a turbo ITR means that either:
a) the owner is stretching the truth and the car isn't a bone fide ITR.
b) the car has been ridden hard and put away wet.
c) both.
The Integra FAQ will help you decode the VIN. Use it along with the tech specs to confirm the car's history.
As for the modifications, I caution you against buying another man's problems. I too would rather spend more for an immaculate ITR that has been well-maintained and preserved as-is.

Rishi, if this is your first car, i highly recommend getting something bone stock. having issues arise from modifications, age, wear, and just maintenance in general are not worth the 6k price tag.
6k sounds like a super good deal, and if one thing holds true in the used car world, its the saying that if its sounds too good to be true, it is.
people sell super bare type R shells (no engine, no interior, no nothing basically) for 6k (yes, its ridiculous) but people buy them anyway. i wouldnt be surprised if all the parts are stolen and the person is just trying to get rid of the evidence. if that holds true, then they're probably on the prowl for someone buying their first car, so beware.

And here I thought I was being too cynical... h:
That said, you've raised very fine points all around.
It could very well be a tarp.

If you have 6K to spend can I suggest a GSR. 94-97 or a 98-01. A few things are different on them but the hp is the same 170. A real ITR has 195. You can have work done to gain that 25 hp back.
Good Luck
