Rust Proofing an Integra in Quebec
Hey,
I just bought a 94 Integra from a lady who kept it in the garage for the last 8 years. It's it great shape for a 8 year old car, but she's never treated it for rust. Thing is, I don't have parking at my apartment so it's gotta go on the street.
I'm trying to decide which type of rust proofing to do. Probably go for the waxy gel that's popular here. Any one have suggestions?

^^ After a few years that kind of rustproofing get microscopic cracks in it that let wanter underneath the rustproofing and it rusts from the inside out after awhile. I suggest a place with the thin dripless oil like Krown.

I got mine done when i got the car from acura it has a life time warranty, i have to go for checkups once a year and they check for rust and stuff.

I think the answer depends on how long you intend to keep the car and how often you wash it in the winter.
I had the lifetime warranty stuff done at the dealer, it is cheaper (after about 3 years) but I still have some minor rust form on the swaybars, springs and control arms.
I would recommend annual rustproofing if you really want to keep the car rust free and intend to keep the car beyond 5 years otherwise you could spend that money on performance improvements such as better shocks or tires.
Crown is recommended by CAA and runs about $CAN100/year. However, lots of places have cheaper versions such as at fast oil change places (Mr. Lube, Pennzoil, Speedy, etc.).

Yeah,
Rust Proofing is always a bit of a black art. My Corolla was rust proofed with the no drip oil and parked on the street for 4 years. Only minor rust spots. Anyways, I've dropped off my car at my mechanic and he's going to shoot it up with gel. I want to keep this car 4-5 years.
