You start with an auto teg and you'll tell yourself "sure, I'll just go for show and cruise around with it". Then after you put on the kit, wheels, and system, you'll think to yourself, what's $200 more for a dinky intake going to do? Bang. You'll get bit by the performance bug in no time, and when all is said and done you'll wish you had a 5-speed.

Actually, the above was just my own personal opinion on how these "show cars" end up with a Drag Gen III turbo and hondata this ZEX that. Feel free to get an auto teg. The "auto" part of it doesn't take away it's utility, but it sure as hell takes away its fun.

worthless if you want it to be fast. but for cruising, handling and looking good, thats all doable.

CHRISTINA: When I bought my car I had never driven a 5 speed, I sucked so bad that I literally felt like crying sometimes. 2 months later I was kickin ass at the local drags, just goes to show ya how things turn out fine. At first just stick to the back roads as much as you can, then after awhile you'll start to get it and then you're off!!

I bought a brand new 2001 Integra LS 5-speed and my dad had to drive it home last year. I was driving around town that night without a problem.

but it isn't very hard at all, it just takes practice. just like everything else in life. and it is a hell of a lot more fun than an auto.

I've tried driving other people's cars but everytime I drive I do good for awhile and then I'll stall it (a couple times-heheheh)...and then they get impatient!!!!! I guess I'll have to wait until I get a different car. I know it'll cost a fortune to change it to a manual!...but someday. I actually shift my auto...which probably isn't good for the car but it gives me more get up and go.

Don't shift your auto. It only makes you think you're going faster because you have more to concentrate on than just mashing the gas and waiting for the car to get going.
