i agree that Honda does know what theyre doing..of course they do. and yes Honda didnt design the K20 for the hell of it, they knew what they were making. But did they restrict the factory version so much to the point that an intake pipe alone will bump up the horsepower that much?! yeah the K20 head probably flows excellently compared to the Bseries counterparts. heck, they better, since theyre making more power and they're Hondas latest and greatest designs to replace the reknowned B-series. but why is that with a bone stock B20 nonvtec and simple bolt ons, i have yet to lose a race to any RSX stock and/or with the same amount of bolt ons??? :eh: i know im no professional race car driver, im just a decent driver and i know that not all the RSX's ive raced are horrible drivers. heck some probably drive better than i do. numbers are great and all, but i have yet to see this "great potential" in the real world...and magazines and manufacture claims dont count.

until i get owned by an RSX (which i know will happen one day)... K20A =

If you gain 20 HP from the AEM CAI it must be the new V2 CAI :rofl:

I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one; everyone talks about the awsome potential of the K series ( and I'm not saying that it doesnt have great potential), but honestly, a drive in my friend's RSX with I/H/E, didnt blow my socks off.....Furthermore, at our local racetrack over here (ATCO), RSXs are constantly getting owned by B series vehicles. I have yet to see a K series beat a B series over there.

Anyway, I guess the best way to find out if the 20 hp claim is true, is to have an RSX owner get an AEM CAI, and dyno it himself ! I really have a hard time believing it though....20 hp for 200 $ is just too good to be true........what bolt on/mod have you guys used for your B series engines, that has added the most HP per $ ? (besides nitrous)

I was thinking that the RSX has really long gears to pull through, but I've looked up the specs and the ratios aren't really that much different from the assorted B-series transmissions out there. The base 5-speed is very very close to the LS tranny but with a shorter FD and the Type-S 6-speed fits its ratios into about the same range as the 5-speed from the GSR. So I have no clue why they're so slow. Maybe there McPherson struts combined with not-so-sticky stock tires are conspiring to screw up traction on the launch.

The dyno numbers are still nice, regardless of how well they are executed in timeslips.

I buy it...some of it. Not 20whp, but they are getting a decent amount compared to what we see with bolt-ons.

Is there money exchanging hands that bias results? Hell yes. Do intakes make more power on K motors than B? I think so. 20whp? Thats hard to believe.

i had thought maybe that was the reason too, but like you said, theyre pretty close in comparison, since the base model RSX is somewhat of the replacement LS and the Type-S a replacement GSR. and these cars arent much "slower" than the LS/GSR (respectively), its just they SHOULD be quicker than their counterparts....but theyre not h: as for the tires, i dont see how Honda would use any tires worse than the stock Michelin XGTV's...at the worse case, whatever tires found on the RSXs are probably just as bad the XGTV.

but yeah i do agree, the spec numbers that the K20 puts down is pretty impressive...too bad it stops there. itd be awesome if the RSX can actually transfer those good numbers into good times... better competition and we can also stand up for it when in a conversation about Hondas and other cars... otherwise i find myself just shrugging off the RSX and talking about the B-series h:

and also i agree that the K20 probably does gain "slightly" more benefits from boltons as lets say a well designed and smooth flowing cold air intake than opposed to a B18C1. but too bad the B18C ownz the K20 :fawk:
