Tire Question....

Tire Question....
I need to get some new tires for a 99 Teg Sedan and wanted to get some input. First of all, I live in Wisconsin, so we get a fair amount of snow. With that being said, should I get some all season tires or go ahead and get some specific winter tires on some steel rims and some summer tires? This is primarily my wifes car and she does not drive it real hard, so we are basically just looking to get some good/safe tires at this point. Any input is appreciated. Also, any specific tire I should look at, or stay away from in your experience?
Thanks...
Thanks...

The best all season tire you can get would be Dunlop SP5000's. The snow rating on tirerack for these are pretty good considering these are a Z rated tire. I had these tires before and liked them a lot. MrFatBoy also has or had them before and he likes them, too I believe....
BUT, since your wife drives this car. I would invest in a dedicated set of snow tires/steelies and then get some summer only tires for the stock rims.

All season tires? I don't need no steenking all season tires!
I've tossed around some cars with SP5000s on them and the level of grip was commendable within the realm of all season tires. For the wife's car that's not going to see aggressive driving the SP5000s will give you a larger safety margin in the dry and wet because of the extra traction when compared to the stock Michelins, and are fine in the snow.
I don't know how the plowing in Milwaukee is but it's got to be better than Madison. I go to UW and I swear I've never seen a street downtown get plowed--I guess the city figures us students aren't worth plowing the streets for since we're poor and don't generate a lot of tax revenue. When it snows I just stay off the road and take advantage of my free student bus pass.

Thanks for the input fellas....Since we are in the process of trying to sell this car, I am a little hesitant to get two sets of tires and wheels. If I knew that we were going to hold onto the car for a while, this would definitely be the way I would go. With all that being said, I think I am gonna get some
Dunlop
SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical
Size:205/55WR15
Anyone have any reasons to go otherwise? This tire seems like it has the best of what I am looking for without getting dedicated winter/summer tires.
Thanks again...

Mr. Fatbooty, I hear ya about the plowing in Madtown. haha I lived on the east side of Milwaukee for a while and it was the same way - you might as well wait for the sun to come out and melt it, cause the city wasn't gonna do anything. Now I live out west and they seem to take some degree of pride in keeping the streets clear.

On a teg you want 205/50, not 205/55.
I've got SP Sport 5000s and they're great in snow.

205/50/15 would be a better choice, but ur speedo will be a tad bit off.
