the rim can handle 205's just fine

 

I'm sure it can be mounted onto the rim.

But 205 on a 6" rim seems wide to me, considering that is what most people run when they go with a 7"-7.5" wheel.

I wasn't arguing the fact that they don't.

I could mount a 315 on my rear rims of the Supra, but it will do me no good because the rim is way too narrow for that size. It will bubble up, and once it spins at a very high rate of speed, the tire contact patch would go "in" more.

Guess I'm just searching for a better reason than them just looking nice. I would run a tire with a much nicer/aggressive compound for what I need than one that looks better.

From what I have read, it does bubble out. Causing most people to get a squirmy feel in turns due to sidewall rollover.

It's not just a Honda thing, but with anyone who runs a 205 on a 15x6 rim.

 

where have you read that? Has anyone here felt that on theirs?

 

my g/f is running 225/50/16s (sp5000's may I add) on her RSX-S (vs. 205/55/16 stock), the tires are wider than the rim, and I have never felt this. The car is solid as a rock in turns, no squirming here.

 

I wouldn't be concerned about the tire being too wide just by adding 10 mm to the width. Dunlop lists the rim width range for the 205/50-15 SP5000 from 5.5 to 8 inches.

 

yeah I have never heard of anyone having those problems, especially with the Dunlops.
