Default Wondering what would make the Integra Feel A Bit Different

I was just wondering if the B16+Tranny felt any more like a 92-95 civic si, what I mean is the civics clutch and shifter felt more comfortable but strong enough to race with, where the integra's clutch is annoyingly hard to keep down and the shifter sometimes pops out of gear or grinds and i hardly ever grinded gears in the civic. Or if there was a way to get a b18 and hook it up to a b16 tranny? Just looking for ideas, I like the integra a lot but my civic seemed more fun to drive..

I'll be the first to question your objectivity and also the health of your transmission.

The clutch pedal in an Integra is not as stiffly sprung as you claim.
And certainly not when compared to an EG Civic.

Furthermore, if you're popping out of gear in the Integra, I'd argue you've got worn syncro teeth or worn shifter bushings or both. You do have 200K miles on the car, after all...

If there's a difference between the two cars, it's in the gearing and the motors.
The B16A is a frenetic little bastard that needs short gearing to keep it on the large cam with the revs north of 5k. That lends the car an entirely different character than the long-geared DC4.

So... to answer your question.
Yes, you can bolt a YS1 trans up to the B18B1, but I wouldn't for a daily driver. The gearing is too short for reasonable highway cruising and with the stock cams, it's just going to exaggerate the motor's asthmatic top end.

If you want the same frenetic feel of a B16*-powered EG in your DC4, I would look at a properly built LS/VTEC build, if not a B18C* swap. Both motors would be well-matched to the YS1 transmission's ratios because they'll have the rpm range and the powerband to exploit the tranny's short gearing.

Well my civic has a d16z6 in it, if that makes a difference. My dad's arguing that the integra's shifter is nicer and the civic's clutch was 'whimpy' and 'sloppy' but I dunno, i feel as though I need to put a little much pressure to get the clutch down between shifts, and the shifters gears seem to close together when compared the the civic. He says I'd be 'downgrading' but i dunno, the integra should feel sportier, this one feels less fun to drive as my d16 HB.. cant figure it out..
