Default hmmm

i believe what he is saying is that when he initially replaced the rings etc, he used all new gaskets, turned out to have a leak, and now he has again taken it apart and used the "newer" gasket, this time with silicone,..... and now no leak for a few days.... well im no mechanic, but hey guys it seems to have worked, is this a good idea though? if he did in fact use the sylicon? how long till it gives? or it was ok to do? i understand do it right the first time or do it again.lol like resurfacing etc, and new gaskets.but im curious whats the take on that silicone up in that ish? boone out

Since you've left no clue as to which thread this reply was intended for... I've merged it with your most recent thread.

If it belongs elsewhere, let us know. We can move it. :run:

You've got the basic lingo, yes.

If you want to reply to another person's posted comment, click the "quote" button so that:

a) we know who you're talking to
b) you're assured that it doesn't start a new discussion topic (aka thread)

Lastly, for the fuel rail specs.. I've got my Factory Service Manual round here somewhere.. I'll look up the spec tomorrow once I find it..

very cool i thank you a million, actually i had replaced one fuel injector the other day, and that new injector had a new o ring set, the single blue one... well the other three leaked pretty bad right after i installed, i stopped working on it that night and ordered the whole new "blue" seal kit, all the seals for all the injectors, well they havent arrived yet but i went and slightly turned the other three in hopes to seat them better, and now there is not any leaks..... is it ok to leave as is? or does anyone know if i should just take it all apart when i get the new sals, and put all new? help. so keep in mind the other three have the two black o-rings on the top where they connect to the fuel rail, the new one has the blue ring only on top. all seems well, do i just wait till i smell fuel again to make a different move?lol thanks guys i know i wrote alot, but just didnt want people to misunderstand what im dealing with. Boone

one last detail, i was told by my mechanic tht hand tight with a wrench was sufficient, so thats what i did, i do have a torque wrench though if you find those specs. thanks boone

Sounds like you pinched the o-ring installing the injectors. It is very easy to do if they are not carefully inserted perfectly straight into the rail. Make sure that you install the injectors into the rail first and then install the rail onto the manifold.

The torque spec on those bolts is 9 lb/ft but I just do what your mechanic does.

Considering how much a fuel leak will ruin your day, I would be cautious and wait for the new seals. The OEM injectors are big enough to fuel a very serious fire if a leak were to develop at speed.

Also, the torque spec for the fuel rail is only 9 lb-ft.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch, I see... h:
