Default Poor gas mileage on my new purchase

I recently bought a 99 gsr, and i've noticed that it gets horrible gas mileage. I commute 60 miles a day on the freeway and so far im getting roughly 250 hwy miles on a full tank . The car has 105,000 miles. I about to start replacing stuff, but where would be a good place to start? Thanx

Yeah, that's not right. I just did a 200 mile round trip from my place to my dads place in Lancaster and did it on 1/2 a tank in my 99GSR w/101k.

Start w/a basic tune-up. Plugs, wires (if needed) fuel filter, oil change and then finish up w/a Seafoam treatment. That alone worked wonders for me. All the crap in the motor was blown out and 3 months later it passed smogged w/flying colors. Not to mention it felt better as well.

It's a additive that removes all the carbon build up in the engine. I bought it but never used it, changed my mind. Heard it can ruin in your cat/o2 sensor since all that crap flies out of your exhaust. My runs fine so I still have the can. You can find more info on it my typing in "Seafoam" in the search section at the top.

I've had good results with it. My car passed smog in August with very low numbers, so I am pretty certain it did not ruin my cat. If I had my choice though, I would do it again, but with Honda top end cleaner instead, virtually the same stuff, but Honda approved.

Wow that means I get horrible gas milage. On my last tank I got like 235 on the tank. My spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve, Dist. cap n rotor, primary o2 sensor all have been changed within the year. Could this be because I drive it hard? When do you guys usually shift to the next gear?

If you spend a lot of time in VTEC then mileage will stink. Additionally I shift at 3k.

You would probably get better gas mileage winding it out to at least 4k. h:

No need to make a torqueless wonder work so hard.

Hmmm... I usually shift around on average at 4k. Plus, vtec it a lot. I should probably chill and see if my gas mileage improves by driving normal.
