Transmission woes
Hi everyone
I've had my 2001 acura integra SE for about a year now and even since I bought it, I have been plagued with some transmission issues. Firstly it is extremely difficult (takes lots of force) to down shift to 1st or 2nd gear, even from a very slow rate of speed. My send issue is that it had a tendecy to grind when going into 2nd and 3rd gear (upshifting). It doesn't grind all the time but probably 20-30% of shifts. I have tried changing the tranmission fluid with fresh acura MTF to no avail. A couple weeks ago I then tried Redline synthetic which helped slightly but hardly fixed the problem.
I will also add that the car only has 60,000 km's on it (35,000 miles) so I am shocked that the syncho's would be showing signs of wear already. I my self do not beat on the car and am an experience manual driver. I am the second owner of the car, the first being a middle aged woman that I doubt would beat on it either.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Are these common issue's for integra transmissions? Does replacing the syncho's solve (permanently) this issues?

It does sound like synchros but with mileage that low, that is unbelievable considering I have no grinds on a 163k mile tranny.
A lot of people have had luck with GM Synchromesh Friction Modified transmission fluid, so that may help bandaid the problem for a while. Ultimately, the transmission is going to have to be cracked open and repaired.

Have you tried double clutching
Have you tried double clutching (the same way you have to to get a teg in reverse).
If it works, than its your syncros. But you can probably baby the tranny a few more miles before replacing it. Good Luck

besides the synchos, it could also be your clutch not dis engaging. Please tell me, does the car shifts normal when the its is not running when you are in park?
just try this, with the car not running, just shift the car to all the gears and see if it the gears go in smoothly or normally. If it does, you have a clutch problem which is gonna happen when you are moving. Its either you have a bad pilot bearing, clutch thats worn, slave cylinder not working or your master cylinder is F up.
